Date

Monday, May 25, 2020

Time

10AM - 11AM

Location

Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie

We regret the need to cancel the 2020 Annual Diocesan Memorial Day Mass due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Albany Diocesan Cemeteries and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany annually joins thousands of Catholic cemeteries across the United States in a national celebration, "Serving God and Country: A Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes" at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie, NY. The national program, developed by the Catholic Cemetery Conference, honors men and women who died while serving in the armed forces, as well as recognizing both active duty military and veterans.

Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger was scheduled to celebrate the annual Mass on Monday, May 25, before the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each year, veterans are invited to serve as lectors and Eucharistic Ministers, or to participate in the presentation of gifts. The Mass is generally attended by hundreds of veterans and community members from across the Diocese.

Please call (518) 374-5319 for more information or to volunteer for the service next year.

Note: When should small flags displayed on graves on Memorial Day be removed?
Flags should be removed as soon as possible after Memorial Day as recommended by the American Legion.
