Albert J. Semerad

Albert J. "Ace" Semerad, 94, died Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at the Ellis Residential Center. Ace was born in Schenectady to the late Albert and Nora Mahoney Semerad and was a lifelong city resident. Ace was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WW II and the Korean War. He was a police officer for the City of Schenectady. Subsequently, he owned Ace's Coffee Shop in Schenectady. Ace was predeceased by his wife Nancy I. Semerad and two sisters, Dorothy Semerad and Ruth Brown. He is survived by four children, Mark (Gail) Semerad, Michael (Christine) Semerad, Vickie-Lee Semerad Andersen and Nikki (Tracy) Van O'Linda. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog Spencer. Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be Friday, April 15, 2022, from 9 until 11 a.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home. Immediately following the calling hours, entombment with a committal service and military honors will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
