    Alvin G. Varriale

    April 29, 1938 - June 20, 2022

    Alvin G. Varriale, 84, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2022 at the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Schenectady Al was the son of the late Pasquale and Anna (Belli) Varriale. Alvin was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and proudly went on to defend his county in the United States Navy. Al married his beloved late wife Diana (Youmans) Varriale on July 1, 1960. Together they shared 27 years of marriage until her passing in 1987. Alvin worked for the Watervliet Arsenal as a welder for many years until his retirement in 1988. Following his retirement he started his own plumbing business, Al’s Right Way. He enjoyed karate, motorcycles, fixing cars, family get-togethers playing bocce ball, cooking and walking. Above all he cherished the time he was able to spend with his family. Al is survived by his daughters Nancy Kuczek (Stephen) and Allison Varriale, his grandchildren Bryan Kuczek, Nicholas Kuczek, Diana Pita and Layla Pita. He is also survived by his sister Loretta Frederico (the late Dominick) and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Diana he was predeceased by his brother Arthur Varriale (Surviving Marie). A calling hour will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 12pm-1pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A funeral service will follow at 1pm at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will take place on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 11am at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.
