    Andrew Lukas Weichert

    April 8, 2004 - February 5, 2022

Andrew Lukas Weichert, 17, passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2022 in Falls Church, VA. Andrew is survived by his mother Margaret Morgan Weichert, his brother James Weichert, his grandmother Mary Alice Conners Morgan and paternal grandparents Rita and Heinrich Kaiser. Andrew was predeceased by his father, Axel Weichert, grandfather Heinrich Weichert, and maternal grandfather Edward Morgan. Andrew is also survived by a large, loving family of aunts, uncles, and cousins across the United States and Germany. Andrew attended grade school in Atlanta, Georgia, first at the Atlanta International School, and then at the Schenck School and the Galloway School. Upon moving to Falls Church, Andrew attended Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School and Meridian High School where he was a junior. Andrew was a kind, charming and curious young man with broad interests ranging from video games to military history and international affairs. He was a budding international strategist with high ideals and a desire for a more just, equitable and peaceful world. His music tastes were also broad, and his playlists included wide-ranging artists from many different genres. His literary tastes were similarly eclectic; Andrew’s favorite authors were Sadegh Hedayat, Luo Guanzhong and Italo Calvino. A well-traveled young man, Andrew loved frequent visits to see family in Germany as well as trips to new cities like London and Brussels. Physical activity was also an important part of his life, and he was dedicated to strenuous daily workouts and boxing classes. He was also an avid snowboarder and hiker and loved vacations in the mountains in both summer and winter. He was always open to new challenges, and this summer learned to drive a speed boat and try wake surfing. Andrew also enjoyed attending basketball games and other sports events where he cheered on his fellow Mustangs. Most importantly, Andrew will be remembered and missed by all who knew him. His enthusiasm, sense of humor, playfulness and joyful spirit are how he’ll be remembered. “…love surrounds those who trust in the Lord.” (Psalm 32:10) Funeral arrangements are being made through Murphy Funeral Home in Falls Church. The Weichert Family will receive friends & family at a wake to be held at Murphy’s on February 16, 2022 from 5-7pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. James Church also in Falls Church on February 17, 2022 at 10am. Masks will be required for both events. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider supporting a charity that would be meaningful to Andrew, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) at give.unrefugees.org.
