    Arthur B. Kane

    July 9, 1936 - May 25, 2022

    Arthur B. Kane, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth McCormick Kane. Mr. Kane, aka Mr. Grand Union, began his career as a stock boy in the Crestwood Plaza location and worked his way up to manager of the Elsmere Grand Union. He later became district manager for upstate New York until his retirement in 1998. He proudly served eight years in the Army National Guard. Arthur was a longtime communicant of the former Saint James Church. He was a member of the Delmar VFW and along with his wife and family enjoyed vacations at Disney World in Florida, Cape Cod and spending time at their camp in Hadley. Arthur is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Marsh Kane; children, Donna Richards (Thomas) of Delmar and Michael Kane (Nancy) of Glenmont; and grandchildren, Thomas, Gregory, Matthew and Mary Richards, Sydney, Sawyer and Spencer Kane. He will be missed by his canine companion, Clover. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, William F. Kane Jr., and sister, Marilyn Ostroff. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Tuesday, May 31, from 4-7 p.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave., Albany. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 1, at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 391 Delaware Ave., Albany. Interment will follow the Mass in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Jolley Road, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in his memory to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY, 12204.
