    Attilio Picerno

    February 7, 1933 - November 24, 2021

Attilio Picerno, 88, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on November 24, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Attilio was born on February 7th, in Roggiano Gravina, Italy. On October 11, 1958, Attilio married the love of his life Rita Robustiano in Consenza, Italy. Attilio was a private contractor who traveled all over Calabria and Germany. Attilio & Rita began raising their family of three in Italy until they came to the United States to live with the rest of Rita’s family in 1971. Attilio was a jack-of-all-trades. Not only was he an excellent handyman, he was a car enthusiast, and had a strong passion for gardening and making wine. Attilio loved to share the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He always made his grandchildren priority; whether it was babysitting, attending sporting events or just simply being a chauffeur to them and his wife, whom he lovingly referred to as “The Boss”. Attilio was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. All will fondly miss him. Attilio is predeceased by his parents Maria Teresa and Giuseppe Picerno, as well as his sister Lidia Picerno. Left to cherish Attilio’s memory are his wife Rita, his children Maria (David) Massaroni of Niskayuna, Joseph Picerno (Cynthia Deligiannis) of Albany, and Luigi (Debbie) Picerno of Albany; grandchildren, David Massaroni Jr., Nicholas Massaroni, Anthony Massaroni, Daniela Massaroni, Cristina Massaroni, Joseph Picerno, Marissa (Jon) Igo, Luigi Picerno, and Isabella Picerno. Attilio’s calling hours will be on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 9:00 am. Mr. Picerno's funeral mass being held directly after at 10:00 am. Both services will be held at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Drive Albany, NY 12211. Entombment will follow the funeral mass at St. Agnes Cemetery (Menands), 48 Cemetery Ave, Menands, NY 12204.
