    Barbara B. Heck

    July 27, 1938 - February 12, 2022

Barbara Beth Heck, 83 of Averill Park, N.Y., passed away peacefully on February 12, 2022, with her family by her side. Born July 27,1938, raised in Pleasantdale, N.Y., Barbara was employed by the NY Telephone Company where she met the love of her life, Arthur Heck. They married on December 8, 1957, and raised their family in Averill Park, N.Y. Barbara and Art loved all animals and raised many, but their true love was for dogs. They owned Briart Kennels for several years where they bred, sold, and showed Doberman Pinschers, Cocker Spaniels, Beagles, and their beloved Bullmastiffs. Barbara was a professional handler and judge. She traveled nationwide to judge Bullmastiff National Specialty shows which was a total dream come true. She loved and was loved by so many wonderful people in the dog world and will be sorely missed by them all. Barbara was an intelligent, passionate, and incredibly brave woman, admired by all that knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and making sure to attend all their sporting events no matter where the destination. She appreciated a good meal, especially if it was made by her daughter Sandi. When life got tough, she pushed through the difficult days with her signature style, dignity, and grace. Barbara is predeceased by her husband Arthur; daughter Krista; son Jeffrie; sisters, Terry and Ronnie. Barbara is survived by her brother, Stanley Stewart (Mildred); daughter, Sandi Miles (Tim); granddaughter, Ashlee Heck (TJ Dinan); Corey Heck; Jeffrie Heck II (Emma); Meghan Krogh (Colby); her niece, Susan Smith, with whom she was very close with; and many more family and friends across the country. Calling hours and service will be on Friday, February 18, at the Wynantskill Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill, NY 12198, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a service at 12 p.m. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rensselaer, NY. A celebration of Barbara's life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite animal rescue.
