    Charles P. Lancto

    October 12, 1969 - May 6, 2022

    Charles Lancto, 52, of Scotia, passed away on May 6, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a short illness. Born October 12, 1969 in Schenectady, NY, Charlie was the son of Gerald F. “Jerry” Lancto and Elizabeth “Betty” Lancto. He attended Mohonasen High School and SUNY Cobleskill. He is predeceased by his parents, Jerry and Betty. Charlie loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing, and he watched his favorite movies over and over again with the same enthusiasm as if it were the first time seeing it. He was charming and witty, and he could make anyone laugh with a joke. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He had a huge heart and taught his family the importance of empathy for others. It was a value of his we hold dearest to us. Charlie’s proudest accomplishment in life was his family. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of nearly 29 years Karen, his daughters Lauren Lancto (David) of Scotia, and Lindsay Abel (Nick) of Glenville. Charlie encouraged his daughters to be independent and fearless. He was their biggest fan and supported them in sports, music, and theatre. He said every day his girls were the best thing he ever did in his life. Charlie is also survived by his brothers Jerry Lancto (Terri) and Ken Lancto (Karen), his sister Bonnie Pokeda, many nieces and nephews, and his best friend Christine Spooner. He loved them all so much The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday from 4pm-8pm at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady. Memorial Services will be held Thursday 10am at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
