    Donald F. Bushey

    September 13, 1927 - May 21, 2022

Donald F. Bushey, 94, husband to the late Joan C. Bushey of Watervliet, passed away on Saturday May 21, 2022 with his loving family by his side. Born on September 13, 1927, in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas Bushey and Corrine Klae. Donald graduated High School in 1945, there he went on to work at Troy Printing Shop, where his main job was printing documents for General Electric, Co. Seven years later he was hired by Watervliet Arsenal as an entry level draftsman, and worked his way up to designer/technician. Donald received a patent award for a new and approved cartridge extractor for artillery. He was also an arsenal field representative, traveling across the country to supervise firings of new or modified artillery; Rochester, New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan and Texas were some of the locations where he oversaw test operations. His hobbies were woodworking, gardening, fishing and traveling. Donald also made trips to Europe, South Seas, New Zealand and Australia. He was a devoted husband to his wife Joan of 36 years, until her passing in 2008. After marrying, they made more trips to Europe, Bahamas, and Western US. Donald is survived by his son Michael and his wife Terry Bushey; nieces and nephews, Sue Tamer and family, Richard Mills and family; also, “Uncle” Walter (Rosanne and Kathleen) Schlegel. Friends and family are invited to attend the Graveside Service at 10am, on Wednesday May 25, 2022, at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 150 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet NY 12189.
