Donna M. Meister Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Donna M. Meister, 63, of Colonie, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. Born in Albany, she was a graduate of Mercy High School and was the daughter of the late Larry and Carrie Reis. Donna shared her love of dance by teaching tap and jazz at Eleanor's School of the Dance for twenty years in both Delmar and Colonie. She worked for the NYS Education department for forty years. She was a communicate of Our Lady of Mercy Parish until its closure. At OLM, Donna played guitar in the folk group, and taught religious education. She enjoyed planting flowers in her backyard, and crocheting gifts for family and friends over the years. Donna's biggest joy was her family, especially her three grandsons. They were the light of her life! Donna is survived by her husband of forty years Edward N. Meister Jr.; mother of Bethany (Ryan) Bennett, and Kristen (Eric) Obermayer; grandmother of Johnny Obermayer, Damien Bennett, and Joshua Obermayer. Donna leaves behind many relatives and friends. On behalf of Donna, the family would like to thank the many people who helped Donna through her illness over the past few years. They would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers at Dana Farber Hospital in Boston, Albany Medical Center Hospital, New York Oncology Hematology, and The American Red Cross. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with Donna's family Sunday July 24th, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St., Albany,NY 12206.Please only enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot doors. Funeral services Monday July 25th, 2022 9:30 am from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany, thence to Christ Our Light Catholic Church, Loudonville at 10:30 a.m., where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will immediately follow the Mass in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
