Edmund J. Burke,86, of Troy passed peacefully on March 1, 2022 at the Van Rensselaer Manor. Born in Troy he was the son of the late Edmund and Mary Frances Hanley Burke and the devoted husband of Patricia Murtagh Burke who passed in June of 2000. Mr. Burke was a graduate of LaSalle Institute in Troy and was veteran of the US Army serving from 1955 to 1957. He was stationed overseas in Japan. Ed was a retired accountant for the former Tek-Hughes Company in Watervliet. After retirement you could find Ed on the 1st tee at Frear Park Golf Course as the starter for many years, a job he loved very much. A member of St. Augustine’s Parish for 53 years, Ed was a Eucharistic Minister and member of The St. Augustine’s Church Heritage Fund. Survivors include his loving children, Edmund Burke (Heidi), Linda Wager and Robert Burke, grandchildren, Jason Burke (Monica), David Burke, Michael Wager and Lauren Miter (Jeremy) and great grandchildren, Nora and Owen Burke and Leah and Thomas Burke. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother and best friend John Burke (Barbara). Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 am from St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at the Frank P. McDonald & Son Funeral Home 870 Second Avenue (124th & 125th Streets) in Lansingburgh. The interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy.
