    Frances M. Wood

    February 4, 1930 - January 27, 2022

Frances Marie Wood, 91, was welcomed home by our Lord on the morning of January 27, 2022, in Bonita Springs, Fla. A longtime resident of Loudonville, Frances (Moldovan) was born on February 4, 1930, to the late Andrew Moldovan and Mary Cebulak of Halcottsville, N.Y. Frances was a graduate of Roxbury Central School (valedictorian) and St. Peter's Hospital College of Nursing. She served as a registered nurse for over 30 years. Married in 1957, to Dr. Frederick C. Wood Jr., Frances was the beloved mother to three children, Mary Lynn, Thomas, and Robert. Along with her dedicated and humble service to nursing, Frances was involved in the Community Chest, and was an active leader in the American Red Cross, organizing bloodmobiles throughout the Capital District. Dedicated to the strength of faith and family, she committed her adult years caring for her parents, sister, and husband; ultimately seeing them to their final resting place. Frances will be remembered as one who enjoyed farming, music, theatre, Prairie Home Companion, and the New York Yankees. Her children continue to carry on her love of service, cooking, gardening, singing, and family. Frances is survived by her children, Mary Lynn Vierling (Arthur), Thomas Michael Wood (Denise), and Robert Bruce Wood (Cindy); four grandchildren, Melissa Vierling and Christopher Vierling (Erin), Emily and Sarah Wood; her nephews, Philip and Bruce Moldovan and Joseph Maliszewski (Dorota). She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick; two sisters, Anne and Mary; and four brothers, Francis, William, John, and Andrew. The family would like to thank her medical staff over the years for their loving care and service. Calling hours will be between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, February 11, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Pius X Church at 9:30 a.m. on February 12. She will be laid to rest in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Red Cross, The American Alzheimer's Association, and St. Pius X Church in Loudonville.
