Franklin Roosevelt Lupi also known as “Poppy” 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on November 1, 2021. He was born May 28, 1933, in the Stockade of Schenectady, New York. He was the son of Bernardo and Amelia (Rotundi) Lupi. Frank was predeceased by his ex-wife Shirley Vrooman, all six of his siblings, Edward Lupi, Armand Lupi, Alfredo Lupi, Theresa Gizzi, Antoinette Izzo, Ursula (Elsie) Lupi. Along with a stepfather Anthony (Tony) Mecogliono, and his son-in-law Matthew Pelish. Throughout his work history, Franklin was a devoted worker and provider for his family. In his early days, he owned an upholstery business and was very proud of the work he did at Proctors Theater and Ingersoll home for men. He additionally enjoyed working with his nephews and lifelong friends Tony and Benny Izzo at Izzo’s Auto Seat Covers. He also enjoyed a long career in the automotive business, and cars were a passion of his. Franklin had a love for music of all kinds from Pavarotti, Tchaikovsky, and Beethoven to Frank Sinatra. Franklin loved the outdoors he cherished spending summers in the Adirondack Mountains with his family and friends. He was an avid fly fisherman. He additionally enjoyed kayaking with his longtime friend Janet Fuentes. Most importantly he valued being a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Most of all he loved spending time with all of his family and was known by all as “Poppy”. Survivors include his eight children Deborah Tarka, Amelia Lupi, Richard (Kathy) Lupi, Ann(Tom) Hall, Caroline (Randall Olocki) Lupi, John (Joyce Rose) Lupi, Jeannine Lupi Pelish, and Patricia (James) Hanson. Grandchildren: Tom (Katelyn) Tarka, Paul (Christina) Lupi, Caitlin (Scott) Allen, Christopher Lupi, Angela Hall, Jessica (John Orsino) Hall, Rachael Olocki, Matthew Olocki, Kelly Lupi, William Farrell, Hollyanne Lupi, Matthew Cremo, Madison Lupi, Brittany (Brian) Coyne, Aurora Hanson, Isabella Hanson. Great-Grandchildren: Tyler Lupi, Brandon Lupi, Hadley Allen, Hunter Allen, Liza Allen, Nathaniel Hall, Armando Hall, William Farrell Jr., Vincent Farrell, Carson Robert’s, Cade Coyne, Connor Coyne, Paisley Coyne, Peyton Franklin Coyne. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Margaret Lupi, numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Franklin was well known in the community and greatly loved. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St., on Monday from 9am to 12 noon. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 5:30 pm at St. Anthony’s Church, Seward Place.
