November 19, 1965 - August 30, 2021
Frank Joseph Sorriento, 55 of Averill Park, peacefully passed into eternal rest on Monday, August 30, 2021, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born in Troy on November 19, 1965. He was the son of the late John and Stella Sorriento and a loving, devoted husband for 33 years to Johnel Ryan Sorriento. Frank graduated from Troy High School in 1985 and was a lifelong resident of the Capital Region. He served as a respected member of the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office for 24 years. Frank was assigned to the transportation unit, served as a team leader for the department's Emergency Response Team, and was a certified defensive tactics and basic training instructor. He was a kind soul who found contentment through the little things in life. He enjoyed coaching and playing soccer, biking, listening to music, and meeting friends at Habana Premium Cigar Shoppe. However, Frank loved nothing more than spending time with his wife, Johnel, children Rocco, 25 of Albany, and Julianna, 18 of Averill Park, the Ryan family, and his Italian relatives, many who still reside in Naples, Italy. In addition to his wife, children, and predeceased daughter, Stellina, he is survived by several siblings including: Rocco and his wife Addolorata, Tony and his wife Theresa, Gina and her husband Frank, and Mary Sorriento. Frank is also survived by his mother-in-law Patricia Ryan; and in-laws, Mary Pat LaRose and her husband William, Kelly Ryan, Thomas Ryan and his wife Dorothy, Linda Kavoukian and her husband Michael, and many nieces and nephews. The Sorriento family extends a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Albany Medical Center, The Community Hospice nurses, as well as lifelong friend Joseph Centanni, members of the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Department, and various other law enforcement agencies for their support throughout this difficult time. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Frank's family at the Bocketti Funeral Home, 336 Third St., Troy on Thursday, September 2, from 3 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will commence on Friday at 8:30 a.m. at the Bocketti Funeral Home, with a Mass to follow at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church on State Street in Troy. A Christian Burial will be celebrated with interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Facial covering is definitely required at the church for everyone attending, and at the funeral home, facial covering is required for anyone who has not been vaccinated. Frank brought us all many years of smiles, laughs and great memories and always reminded everyone to take time to appreciate family, food, and friends. To honor Frank, the family requests that donations be made in his name to The Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY, 12205.
