    Genoveffa Calandra

    August 23, 1933 - January 30, 2022

    Genoveffa Calandra, 88, of Schenectady passed away on January 31, 2022. Genoveffa grew up in the Squille, Providence of Caserta, Italy and came to Schenectady NY in 1971 with her husband and son. She is survived by her son, Felice Calandra (Eileen John Eppelmann) of Rotterdam; her brother Fiore Marotta of Schenectady; two grandsons David of North Carolina and Anthony Calandra (Heidi Goicoechea) of Idaho; two granddaughters Angelica (Simone) Maccone and Monica (Michele) Iannotta Buro of Italy; a grandson Maurizio Ianotta of Italy; four great grandsons Matteo, Mirco, and Franchesco of Italy, and Anthony Joseph (AJ) of Idaho; two great granddaughters Gloria and Arianna of Italy; and numerous family members throughout the U.S., Canada, Italy, and England. Genoveffa is predeceased by her loving husband Antonio of over 60 years; cherished daughter Agata Calandra Iannotta of Italy; her parents Antonio and Maria DeMarco Marotta of Italy; two sisters Maria Spagnola of Amsterdam and Filomena (Gennaro) Marotta Matarazzo of Italy; and three brothers Raffaele (Selvina) Marotta of Rotterdam, Arcangelo (Michelina) Marotta of Amsterdam, and Giuseppe (Theresa) Marotta of Italy. Genoveffa retired from Campbell Plastics. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and their Womens’ Society. She will be lovingly remembered for her passion for cooking for family and friends, her generous, fun-loving spirit, and flourishing vegetable and floral gardens. Her family is finding comfort in knowing that she and Antonio are once again united in everlasting life. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4-7 pm at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. Funeral services will begin 9:15 am Saturday at the Funeral Home followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Entombment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum.
