    Helen Mae Couch

    March 17, 1924 - March 31, 2022

    Helen Mae Couch, 98 of Latham, beloved wife of the late John A. Couch Sr., passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Born and educated in Rensselaer, she was the daughter of the late Milo and Anna (Egan) Best. She graduated from Rensselaer High School and worked for many years as an Office Assistant and Bookkeeper for several organizations including United University Professors from which she retired from in 1984. Helen and her family have resided in Latham, for over 60 years. She also had maintained a summer residence in Cossayuna Lake for 30 years where she spent many happy summers with her husband and family. Helen was a devoted lover of her many pets she had over the years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Latham. Survivors include her two loving sons John A. Couch of Rensselaer and Michael P. (Julie) Couch of Wallace, NC; her cherished grandchildren Richard, Matthew, Judith, Amy, and Andrea and her great grandchildren Richard, James, Gabriella, Brooklyn, John, Jacob, Noah, Jace, Derek, Liam, Maya, Connor, and Luciana. In addition to her parents and late husband Helen is predeceased by her granddaughter Alison and great-granddaughter Sara. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, April 4th, 2022 from 4-7pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 5th, 2022, 10am, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd., Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating. Interment will immediately follow the mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rensselaer. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society by mail at 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204 or online at https://mohawkhumane.org/donate.
