Irene D. Cavanaugh

November 7, 1917 - February 18, 2022

Irene Moran Cavanaugh, 104 passed away on Friday February 18, 2022 at Van Rensselaer Manor. Born in Troy, she was the daughter to the late Robert Moran and Ellen Madden Moran and the loving wife to the late Martin V. Cavanaugh, he died in 1980. Irene is survived by her daughters Beverly (the late Robert) Lewis of Brunswick and Sandra (the late Eloy) Rivage of Brunswick, her grandchildren Cheryl Lewis, Jeanne (Andrew) Gilchrist, Lynne (Fred) Lewis, David (Lisa) Rivage and the late Keith Rivage, her great grandchildren Andrew Gilchrist, Robert (Kaylene) Gilchrist, Hannah Gilchrist and Michaela Hardies, also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, father, husband Martin and grandson Keith, she was predeceased by her siblings Helen McLaughlin, Mary Moran, Grace Miller, William Moran and Mildred Haughney. The family would like to thank the staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for many years of care and compassion given to Irene. Funeral mass will be celebrated 9:30 am on Tuesday February 22, 2022 at St. Augustine’s Church 25 115th Street, Lansingburgh. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy. Family and friends are invited and may call from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday February 21, 2022 at McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh. Memorial donation in memory of Irene may be made to the Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club, 501 4th Avenue, Troy, NY 12182.
