    Iris M. Perillo

    November 29, 1946 - January 27, 2022

    Iris Mercedes Rodriquez Mendez Perillo, 75, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, January 27th, 2022. Iris was born in Upata, Venezuela to her parents, the late Simon Rodriquez and Dolores Mendez Rodriguez. Iris met her beloved husband, Antonio, in Venezuela and they were married on June 28th, 1970. After the birth of their son, Gabriel, Iris was a stay-at-home mom. She later went on to work as a nurse’s aide at Kingsway Arms Nursing Home for 15 years. Iris loved cooking, specializing in Italian and Venezuelan cuisine or anything that her family desired. Her family and extended family meant the world to her and she also adored her son’s goddaughter and siblings, Sofia, Camila, Nadia and Viana. Iris was a longtime member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. She attended bible study there and participated in bringing up offerings during mass. She also attended masses at St. Anthony’s Church. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her friend, Maria and visiting casinos with her friend, Nancy. Iris was also a collector. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Antonio Perillo in 2005 as well as many dear extended family members. Iris leaves behind her devoted son, Gabriel A. Perillo; two sisters, Luisa Rodriquez Mendez de Grimon and Anna Rodriguez Mendez as well as 4 adopted siblings and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will take place from 9am to 10am on Wednesday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd., Schenectady, NY 12306, with a funeral mass to follow at 10 am. Iris will be laid to rest next to Antonio at Sts. Cyril & Method Cemetery.
