James J. Amyot, 74 of Davis Avenue, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at his residence with his loving family at his side. Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Paul and Pauline Sober Amyot. He was a 1965 graduate of Cohoes High School and received an associate degree from H.V.C.C. Jim had been employed for 10 years by Kay Chemical Co. of Greensboro, N.C. and retired in 2009. Earlier, he operated D&J Distributors in Waterford. He had been a physical education teacher at the former Cohoes Consolidated Catholic Schools and a varsity basketball coach at the former Keveny Memorial Academy. He was a volunteer coach for both the Waterford Youth Council and Cohoes Youth Program. In the mid-1990s, Jim served on the Waterford Board of Education. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Survivors include his wife Donna Finger Amyot; and his children, Joshua Amyot (Victoria) of Waterford, Kellie Priest (Donald) of Canandaigua and Amanda Gelina (Joseph) of Waterford. He was the brother of Paul Amyot (Elaine) of Clifton Park, Stephen Amyot (Susan) of Rexford, the late Harold (Buddy) Amyot and Paulette Amyot. He was the proud grandfather of Sydney Amyot and Lorelei Priest. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Relatives and friends may visit at the Phillip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Friday, September 10, with the funeral service to follow.
