Jean G. (Perez) Valenti, 93 of Troy, passed peacefully into eternal life on Monday, April 11, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany in 1928, she was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Mary (Smith) Perez and was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Saverio "Sam" Valenti Sr. Jean served as the chef and caregiver of Saint Anthony of Padua Rectory of Troy for 35 years. Jean loved cooking and baking for those she loved most, especially her family. She enjoyed her Friday nights playing cards with her sisters and vacationing in North Carolina with her youngest sister. Jean was a long-time member of The Italian Community Center in Troy and was a member of the women's bocce league. She found joy in gardening, needle point and quilt making - but her greatest joy came from being with her family. Jean is survived by her children, Catherine (James) Germain, Jennifer Case, Saverio "Sam" (Susan) Valenti Jr., Joseph (Judith) Valenti, Anthony Valenti and Antonette (Michael) Yamin all of Troy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, James (Tracy) Germain, Kelly (John) Seh, David (Marcy), Megan Germain, Patrick (Shawnna), Robert (Nicole), Courtney (Christopher Winter) Case, Talia, Anthony (Lindsay) Valenti, Victoria (Michael) Gabriel, Matthew (Erika) Valenti, Vienna (John) Gildea, Eliza Valenti, Anthony and Nicholas Valenti and Michael and Saverio Yamin. Jean was the Gigi to 21 great-grandchildren. In addition, Jean is survived by her sisters, Helen Tolcser and Maryanne Stephen; her sisters-in-law, Mary Perez, Joan Perez Sweet, Mary Bevevino, Mary Phyllis and Elaine Valenti and countless nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Sam, she was predeceased by her siblings, Marie Carroll, Anita Poulin, Monica Paigo, Gloria Nadeau, Manuel, Richard, John, Frank and her twin, James Perez. We would like to send our love and gratitude to all of our family and friends for your unwavering love and support. A special thank you to the Van Rensselaer Manor B3 unit for the wonderful care they gave to our mother. The funeral service for Jean will be held on Tuesday, April 19, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, State Street, Troy, with Reverend Richard Donovan OFM, Pastor officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the church prior from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
