    Joan F. Dirolf

    January 15, 1933 - May 21, 2022

    Joan F. Dirolf, 89, passed away Saturday May 21, 2022 at Ellis Hospital. Joan was born in Albany the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Rudolph) Muller. She grew up in Rensselaer and graduated from Rensselaer High School. Joan, with her young family, moved to Highland, NY where they spent six years. In 1964 the family moved to Schenectady and Joan has called it home since. She worked for A T & T for many years as a telephone operator and retired in 1997. Joan was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Bishop Gibbons Mother's Alumni Association and long time communicant of St. Helen's Catholic Church. She was predeceased by her husband George in 2003 as well as her siblings: Charles "Bud" Muller, Robert Muller, Kenneth Muller and Marilyn Steese. Joan is survived by her children: George (Mary) Dirolf, Maryrose (John) Balloni, Elaine (Joseph) Cannon and Steven Dirolf, sister Grace (Edward) Munger, grandchildren: Matt, Chris, Maria, John, Daniel, Kate, Jaimee and Patrick, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 9:00 am at St., Kateri Tekakwitha Church (formerly St. Helen's Church) , 1803 Union St., Niskayuna. Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice.
