    Joanne M. Farrell

    May 4, 1951 - May 15, 2022

Joanne M. Farrell, 71 of Albany, passed away on May 15, 2022, at her home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. A North Albany native, she was born on May 4, 1951, and was a graduate of Sacred Heart Elementary School and Cardinal McCloskey High School. A long-time clerk at the New York State OMRDD, she retired in 2009 after a 40-year career. A devout Catholic, a devoted friend, a loving sister, daughter, aunt and great-aunt, Jojo touched the hearts of everyone she met. She was never one to miss a birthday, a holiday, an anniversary or any special event for friends and family. She was generous to a fault, loved unconditionally and said the only thing she hated was surprises. She is survived by her sister, Gail Farrell; brothers, Don (Patricia) Farrell and Michael (Nancy) Farrell; her nieces, Dawn Nagel (Donald), Jennifer Dancil (Zachary), Christa Brady (Matt) and Caitlin Farrell; her grandnieces, Madison Dancil, Eliana Dancil, Emerson Nagel; her grandnephew, Andrew Nagel; and her best friend, Kathy Moro. She was predeceased by her parents, Donald P. and Margaret Farrell; and her nephew, Brian P. Farrell. Visitation for family and friends will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd Colonie on Sunday, May 22, from 2 - 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Dr., Albany on Monday, May 23, at 10 a.m. Interment will immediately follow in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. The family has designated St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for memorial contributions, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
