    John V. Homand

    August 21, 1943 - May 4, 2022

John V. Homand, "Jack," 78, passed into eternal life on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at home. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Vincent and Pauline Homand, and brother of the late Paul M. Homand. John was educated in schools in Albany and graduated from Philip Schuyler High School. John was a lifelong resident of Albany where he spent most of his life before recently becoming a resident of Delmar, where he thoroughly enjoyed the more scenic and maintenance free life. After school, John went on to work in the State Mailroom, shortly later he went to work for General Electric until retirement. In Jack's earlier years he enjoyed bowling, square dancing, as well as taking bus trips and scenic drives. Later in his life he enjoyed his outings and checking off his bucket list with his longtime friend and caregiver, Katie. Jack is survived by several loved ones and took great pride in being the best "Jackaroni" to his favorite girls, Aubrie and Karsyn. John was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with his loved ones. John was always there to brighten the lives of others. His absence from our lives will be a void impossible to fill. We find peace in knowing he is reunited with his loved ones who went before him and know in our hearts that someday we will all be together again in the house of the Lord. Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's funeral Mass on Saturday, May 14, at 9 a.m. in All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany. There will be no calling hours. The Rite of Committal will immediately follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, where he will be reunited with his beloved parents and brother. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Jack in a special way may send contributions to a charity of your choosing.
