Joseph A. Altieri

Joseph A. Altieri, 91, entered Eternal Life Friday, April 22, 2022 at St. Peter’s Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Michael and Margaret Paradise Altieri. Joe served his Country honorably in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a Patriot. Joseph formerly owned and operated Altieri’s Garage and Service Station in Menands and Albany. He returned to the classroom and went on to earn his Masters Degree and retired as an Auto Mechanics Instructor from BOCES in Schoharie, NY. Joe was an accomplished musician and played the piano, organ and accordion. He loved animals, especially dogs. He also was a devout and practicing Roman Catholic. He was the dear husband of the late Ann T. O’Neill Altieri, who passed away July 24, 2016. He was the beloved father of Joanne Altieri Marchese (Joe), Christina A. Schmit (late John) and Joseph A. Altieri Jr (Beth); cherished grandfather of Nicole Molinski (Michael), Shawn Plantz (Sophie), Joseph Marchese (Christie), Jack Marchese (Elissa), Erika Richards (Christopher), Andrea Rausch (Daniel), Matthew Schmit (Brittany) and Carol Ann Price (Brett); great grandfather of Danielle, Jarem, Lily, Maeve, Ruth, Colin, Lydia, Jack and Ella; several nieces and nephews survive; Also survived by his loyal canine companion, Petey. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joe’s family Tuesday, April 26, 2022 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only. Funeral services Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 9:30 am at St.Pius X Church, Loudonville, NY where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Watervliet, NY immediately following the Mass.
