Joseph Recupero

Joseph Recupero, 86, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, February 26, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in Terme Vigliatore, Sicily on March 19, 1935, a son of the late Andrea and Maria Giambo Recupero. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1953, settling in Schenectady. Joe was a hard-working man, devoted to his family. With his self-taught trade as a mason, Joe began work as a union mason with the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local Union 2 for 42 years. He was employed by Callahan Industries. With his amazing talents, Joe built his wife and family a home, which is filled with the labor of his love and precious memories. Above all, Joe loved his family; he taught them his traditions and heritage; winemaking, gardening, and how to make a tomato sauce. Along with his wife Elisa, Joe enjoyed snowbirding in Cocoa Beach, FL, after spending the holidays with their family; he loved going to Saratoga Race Track and was known by his family and friends as the grill master. Joe was predeceased by a sister, Dina Isgro. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Elisa Imbesi Recupero, loving daughters, Maria (Drew) McDonald, of Princetown, Silvana (Richard) Dusse, of Duanesburg, Joanne (Fabio) Floccuzio, of Altamont; six grandchildren, Brittany (Amanda), Devin, Kaitlyn, Michael Sabrina, and Justin; great-grandson, Crew. Services will be held on Tuesday at 9 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am. Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 7 pm.
