    Josephine Fraley

    August 3, 1930 - February 19, 2022

Josephine Fraley passed away peacefully on February 19, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Albany and lived there her whole life. She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of the Blessed Sacrament Church. She enjoyed volunteering at Blessed Sacrament's Thrift Store and the Food Pantry. Josie thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her life. She was a great Italian cook and made sure everyone was always fed and full. She visited and cared for the sick, she had a core group of friends (The 8 Club Girls) who were friends since elementary school, she attended daily Mass, and she was a dedicated New York Yankees fan. Josephine was full of love and compassion for everyone. It was a thrill to have the family together for a traditional Italian dinner for Sundays and holidays. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Fraley, in 1978. She is survived by her five loving children, Edward Fraley (Anne Marie), Joseph Fraley (Denise), Stephen Fraley (Deborah), Maria Sour (Joby), and Patricia Briskin (Stuart). She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Joshua and Nicholas Fraley, Jason (Alison) and Derek Fraley, Stephen Fraley Jr. (Cortney) and Felicia Myers (John), Kara (fiance Mitchell) and Christopher Sour, Amanda (fiance Jacob) and Courtney and Daniel McDonnell Jr., and four step-grandchildren. Josie is also survived by eight great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Josie's family on Monday, February 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany. Please enter the funeral home only from the rear parking lot entrance. Unvaccinated individuals must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Funeral services on Tuesday, February 22, at 9 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave. (Father John Bradley Way), Albany, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated. Unvaccinated individuals must wear a mask. The Rite of Committal will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, immediately following the funeral Mass.
