    Kathleen G. Cusack

    February 8, 1963 - February 12, 2022

Kathleen G. Cusack, 59, passed away on February 12, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy, she was the daughter to Robert C. Moak and Doris A. Reilly Moak. She attended grade school at St. Jude the Apostle in Wynantskill and graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy in 1981. Employing her deeply caring nature, she went on to become a Registered Nurse, graduating from Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in 1984, and working at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy until 1992. She later used these skills wherever she was needed. Moving around the world during her husband's Air Force service, she worked as a school nurse in the Department of Defense Education Activity in Stuttgart, Germany as well as the Ohio Central School System. Retiring in West Sand Lake, she worked at O'Connor First Law Firm in Albany as a legal nurse consultant. In her free time, Kathleen doted on her family and friends, always going out of her way to make them smile or lend an ear to those with troubles. A deeply spiritual person, she regularly attended mass at St. Henry's Church in West Sand Lake and always had a prayer on hand for comfort. She loved music and (really loved) dancing, going for long walks, taking trips to the beach as well as cooking and baking for whoever was on her mind. Kathleen was known for her tireless generosity dropping dishes of apple pie, eggplant parm or her signature batch of chocolate chip cookies on the doorstep of a loved one for no particular reason at all. She was a thoughtful and caring friend and a wise and loving mother and wife who gave the best hugs. She will be remembered for her fierce strength, unwavering kindness, compassion and selflessness. In addition to her mother and father, Kathleen is survived by her husband Steve Cusack of West Sand Lake; her children, Kathleen M. Cusack of Troy, Jacob Cusack of Cohoes, George Cusack of West Sand Lake; her siblings, Mary Beth (Larry) Quinn of Troy, Robert (Rose) Moak of Wynantskill, Christine Moak of Rensselaer, William (Ellen) Moak of Malta, Brian (Robin) Moak of Schenectady and Colleen Moak of Troy. She is also remembered fondly by her loving parents-in-law, George E. Cusack and Joan M. Cusack; as well as Steven's siblings, Michael (Jennifer) Cusack of Bethlehem, Kevin (Ann) Cusack of Worcester, Mass., Matthew Cusack of Troy, Michelle (John) Connolly of Rexford and Christopher (Kimberly) Cusack of Mechanicville. Kathleen and her family are enormously grateful to the doctors and nurses at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York, where she received compassionate care for five years. She would also like to thank the St. Peter's-Trinity Health system, Troy's Eddy Visiting Nurse and Rehab Association and Community Hospice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 43 Brookside Avenue, Wynantskill. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Family and friends are invited and may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, at the Wynantskill Funeral Home 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill.
