    Margaret Hermida

    March 25, 1928 - April 15, 2022

Margaret Hermida, 94, passed peacefully on April 15, 2022 with her loved ones by her side. Born in Schenectady, NY, to her late parents James and Lucy (Marconi) Morrett. On May 21, 1950, she married her husband, Richard Hermida, in Schenectady, NY. They started their lives together in Schenectady, then lived in Portland ME for a number of years. Upon their return to NY, they planted their roots in Glenville, where they lived for nearly 50 years. Margaret was a strong and independent woman, who always put her family first. Margaret also lovingly known as “Kiki” was a wonderful grandmother, she used her creative talents in sewing and knitting to make one of a kind pieces for her family, and always came to their aid for any stitching concern. As a young woman Margaret worked for GE, then took time to raise her family and later in life worked for the Burnt Hills Ballston Lake School District at Charlton Heights where she retired. Margaret was an avid fan of tennis and baseball which carried through her life. Margaret and Richard often attended local tennis tournaments, and even the US Open. You did not interrupt her while she was watching her tennis or her beloved NY Yankees. She enjoyed completing puzzles and her most precious moments were spent with her family. Her faith was very important to her, she was a parishioner of the Church of Immaculate Conception in Glenville and she loved her church community. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard (2017); and her brother, James Morrett. To continue her memory are her children, Lynn (Brian) Davis, Richard J. Hermida, and Julie (Walter) Johnson; cherished grandchildren, Christina Davis, Jessie Hermida, Richard Hermida, Jenna (Ethan) Knapp, Joshua Johnson and Zachary Johnson; great-grandchildren, Miles Jae Barley, Lucy and Oliver Knapp; and her sisters, Marian Cintula and Louise Phillips. Family and friends are welcomed to the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. on Wednesday, April 20th from 10:30 AM to 11 AM. Funeral Service will begin at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
