    Marie N. Groat

    September 8, 1929 - January 25, 2022

Marie (Nolin) Groat, 92, passed away peacefully after a brief illness January 25,2022 at Livingston Hills Rehabilitation Center. Marie was born in Montreal, Canada and came to live in Cohoes, NY as a teenager. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at Cohoes Hospital until her retirement. In her free time, while young she enjoyed driving her convertible thru the countryside any time she could. She married Frederick Groat July 2, 1955, and together they raised 4 children, sadly losing their only son Frederick Groat Jr. to a tragic accident in 1973. After retirement Marie and Fred moved to McAllen, Texas, where Marie lived for 30 years, enjoying friends and the warm weather. Marie moved back to the area in 2015 to enjoy time with her family. Marie enjoyed camping, ceramics, crocheting and traveling. She was lucky to have traveled to all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico. Surviving daughters, Nancy (Wayne) Peterson, Candie (Jeff) Delong and Patricia Groat (Phil Eberhardt), are left with countless ceramic figures, holiday pieces and veggie dishes. Marie is also survived by many grandchildren, great -grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. There will be a private family service in the Spring. Donations may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, a charity she admired and loved. Arrangements have been entrusted to: Simple Choices, Inc. Cremation Service.
