    Maryann Abate Johanning

    April 12, 1955 - June 3, 2022

    Maryann Abate Johanning, 67, wife of Neil, Loudonville, NY passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 after a heart transplant. Born April 12, 1955 in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of Silvia and the late Anthony Abate. Maryann graduated from Troy High School and Siena College. She worked in accounting for several NYS agencies including Social Services and the Office of Children and Family Services, retiring in 2010 after 32 years. She loved traveling, painting, theater, and most of all her family and friends. She was an active parishioner and volunteer at St. Pius X Church. She was “Coach” to Neil, “Lan” to her closest friends, and “Mama” to her grandchildren. In addition to Neil, she is survived by daughters Amanda Lasky (Jeremy) of Clifton Park and Angela Johanning-Grosse (Brock) of Colonie, son Christopher (Jessie) of New York City, mother Silvia Abate of Loudonville, and brother Samuel Abate (Donna) of Ballston Spa, grandchildren James, Natalie, and Jack, mother-in-law Ann Carter and late father-in-law Joseph Johanning, sisters-in-law Pamela Hanauer (Terry) and Lynn Johanning, nieces and nephews Nicole Matthews (Brian), Jude Matthews, Lily Matthews, Samuel Abate (Nikesha Anderson), Samuel and Abigale. Friends are invited to attend Calling Hours on Thursday June 9, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM (memory sharing from 6:30-7:00 PM) at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday June 10, 2022 at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumite Rd., Loudonville. Internment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Ave., Menands. Memorial donations in Maryann's name may be made to the Farano Center for Children, 27 N. Main Ave., Albany, NY 12203.
