    Nancy C. Leyden

    August 30, 1950 - June 18, 2022

Nancy Curran Leyden, 71, beloved wife, aunt, sister, and friend, died peacefully at St. Peter's Hospice Inn on Saturday, June 18, 2022, after a short illness. Nancy was born in Ticonderoga, N.Y. to Clifford and Helene Gibbs Curran who predeceased her. Nancy grew up in Crown Point, N.Y. After graduating from high school, she attended The College of St. Rose, graduating in 1972 with a degree in biology. Her career path took her to the VA Hospital in Albany, N.Y. where she worked as a medical technologist for over 45 years. During that time her co-workers became her dear friends. Nancy married John Leyden on June 6, 1981. They recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. Her family also includes her sister, Joan Thiesen (Richard) of Niskayuna; her niece, Kathleen Gardner (Christopher) of Newtown, Conn.; and her nephew, Michael Thiesen of Niskayuna; as well as her great-nephew and great-niece, Andrew and Caroline Gardner of Newtown, Conn. She loved each of them with all her heart. Nancy was a communicant of St. Madeleine Sophie Church and had a keen sense of social justice which manifested itself in her mission to feed the poor. Both individuals and groups were nourished through her generosity. She also enjoyed the wonders of creation whether walking the trails of Five Rivers in Delmar or exploring the seacoast in Ogunquit, Maine. Nancy's family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, June 22 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 23 at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Road, Schenectady, NY 12303. Interment will follow at Our Lady Hope of Christians Cemetery, 41 Jolley Rd, Glenmont, NY 10277. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nancy's memory may be made to your local food pantry.
