    Richard J. Sawicki

    December 1, 1958 - March 25, 2022

    Richard J. Sawicki, 63, entered Eternal Life Monday, March 28, 2022. Born in Albany, he was the beloved son of Veronica Nizman Sawicki and the late Joseph Sawicki. Richard graduated from South Colonie Central High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College. He was a loyal employee at the Times Union for over 30 years. Richard was a communicant of St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, NY and member of both the Polish American Citizens Club and West Albany Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and OTB. Richard’s family will remember him as an honest, salt-of-the-earth person and dedicated uncle who always made them laugh. In addition to his mother, he is the brother of Edward Sawicki (Sheila) and Jeanina Lamanna (Peter); loving uncle of Nicole Caldwell, Father Michael Lamanna, Andrew Sawicki and Katherine Sawicki; granduncle of Eleanor Caldwell, Clara Mae Sawicki and Reid Sawicki; several cousins and friends survive. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Richard’s family Thursday, March 31, 2022 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, NY 12206. Funeral services Friday, April 1, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, NY where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
