    Walter V. Crawford

    July 12, 1926 - February 12, 2022

    Walter V. Crawford, 95, passed away peacefully on February 12,2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Amsterdam, NY he was the son of the late Walter and Ethel (Follett) Crawford. Walter was a 1944 graduate of Amsterdam High School and proudly went on to defend his country in the United States Navy. He was a dedicated employee of Niagara Mohawk for 41 years, retiring from there in 1987. Walter obtained his pilots license and enjoyed flying when he could. He also had a love for nature and the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Walter was a handyman who excelled in carpentry, mason work and redoing homes. Above all he cherished the time he was able to spend with his family. Left to honor his memory is his beloved wife Mary Crawford, his children Kathleen Perrella (Mark), Mark Crawford (Pamela) and Lynda Ranieri (Joseph). Additional survivors include his grandchildren Sarah Jongeling (Alexander), Kristen Fitzsimmons (Zachary), Matthew Crawford, Ashley Crawford, Emily Ranieri, and Caitlyn Ranieri with his first great grandchild on the way. Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive. In addition to his parents Walter was predeceased by his brother Warren “Whitey” Crawford and his sister Norma Tomlinson. Calling hours will be held on February 17, 2022 from 5-7pm at the Glenville Funeral Home 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. Funeral services will be held on February 18, 2022 at 1pm at the Glenville Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.
