    d Benjamin J. Vinciguerra

    May 3, 1934 - February 25, 2022

Benjamin James Vinciguerra D.D.S., 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 25th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Benjamin was born and raised in Schenectady, New York, the only son of the late James and Theresa (Pepe) Vinciguerra. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Union College (class of 1956). Post-bachelor, he conducted scientific research at Union College and earned a master's degree from Albany State Teachers College. He taught chemistry and biology at Mohonasen High School where he was loved by his students. He went on to the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and, upon graduation, served as a Lieutenant Commander with the United States Public Health Department commissioned to the Coast Guard. He continued his studies at Columbia University in New York City, specializing in Orthodontics, where he met the love of his life, Ouna. He practiced orthodontics for 45 years, creating beautiful smiles across the Capital District for generations of patients. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Ouna, his son Matthew and his wife Amy, his daughter Amy and her husband Patrick, his grandchildren Alexandra and James, his sister Mary and his beloved nieces and their children. He was passionate about his orthodontic practice and cared deeply for his patients. He reserved his greatest love, though, for his wife and family. Benjamin enjoyed watching sports with his son, culinary adventures with his daughter, playing with his grandchildren. and loved nothing more than time with his wife and family at home on Union Street or Saratoga Lake. He was a warm, passionate, and gregarious man, a devoted husband, dedicated father, doting grandfather, beloved uncle, and friend to many. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated, Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Union Street, Schenectady. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
