    Carol M. Leupold

    December 25, 1942 - April 25, 2021

Carol O'Rourke Leupold exited this life on April 25,2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Carol entered this life in Brooklyn, NY, on Christmas Day 1942, the daughter of Rose Randazzo O'Rourke and Henry O'Rourke. She spent her early years in Brooklyn where she attended St. Charles Borromeo Elementary School, Bishop McDonell High School and Kings County Hospital School of Nursing. After receiving her RN degree, Carol worked at Kings County Hospital and Flatbush General and in later years she served as an office nurse with Dr. Margaret Craven in Guilderland. She married her husband, Robert, in 1966 and together they were blessed with three children whom Carol will forever treasure: Chris (Helen) Leupold, Kerry (Ian) Leupold-Marshall and Kim (Rick) Surett. Carol took great delight in spending time with her grandchildren: Maddie, Mary and Joey Leupold; Ben and Stella Marshall; Will and Mia Surett. Family vacations were one of the great pleasures in her life which will always be remembered. Carol and Bob moved to the Capital district in 1970 and had resided in Guilderland for thirty- five years prior to moving to Niskayuna in 2009. Over the years Carol was active in many volunteer activities. She also enjoyed the many years she participated in the Ladies Golf League at Whispering Pines and the friendships she established there. Over the more recent years Carol looked forward to time spent with her friends at the Sunnyview Hospital Wellness Center. Dinner with friends was always a source of enjoyment. Carol was predeceased by her parents and her siblings Rose Asplund, Margaret Kouhry and Henry O'Rourke. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, sister Arlene (John) Aragona, niece Ellen Asplund Kohan, and many nieces and nephews. She was devoted to all and will be sorely missed by everyone. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ben Tonneau, Dr. Steven Schlossberg (NY Oncology and Hematology), and Dr. Steven Maron (Sloan-Kettering) for their compassionate and expert care. Carol was also grateful to the Hospice team who provided comfort and care for her. Carol continued her spirit of generosity by donating herself to the Albany Medical Anatomic Gift Program. At Carol's request there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in honor of Carol at Christ the King Church in Guilderland on Tuesday May 4,202 at 10:00AM.
