    Domenica DiCocco

    September 7, 1935 - May 31, 2022

Domenica DiCocco, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 31, 2022, while at home surrounded by her loving family. Domenica was born in Fontechiari, Italy, the daughter of the late Onorio and Ernestina DiCocco. She grew up the youngest of seven siblings in a small home nestled among the olive trees in Cisterna. She had a fierce spirit and a generous heart from which she loved unconditionally. Domenica is reunited with her loving husband of 52 years, Anthony DiCocco, who passed away in 2010. Shortly after they were married in 1958, Domenica and Anthony decided to settle in Schenectady, NY where they raised their three children. Domenica worked as a seamstress and then at the General Electric Co. from where she eventually retired to spend her days nurturing her growing family, perfectly tended garden, and beautiful home. Domenica and Anthony loved to travel together and visit with family and friends. Domenica was also a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America Lodge 321. She thoroughly enjoyed visiting any casino and trying her luck, especially Rivers Casino. Many briscola, scopa, rummy and poker hands were enjoyed while sitting around her kitchen table. The larger the family grew, the bigger the Sunday dinners with her homemade pasta and meatballs. Seeing everyone together from the head of the table brought her the greatest joy. In addition to her parents, Domenica was also predeceased by her siblings Antonia Perruzza, Pietro DiCocco, Dora DiCocco, Carolina Frisone and Rosa DiCocco. Domenica is survived by her three loving children: Rosa (Frank) Campanella of Rotterdam, NY, Gina (Nick) Piccirillo of Rotterdam, NY, and John (Brenda) DiCocco of Princetown, NY, as well as her sister, Agnesa Fraioli, and sister-in-law, Iolanda DiCocco. Domenica also leaves behind her seven adored grandchildren: Annamaria (Kyrish) Iyer, Suzanne Piccirillo, Antonia Piccirillo, Felicia (Michael) Schmitt, Diana DiCocco, Rachel DiCocco, Daniel DiCocco, and three beloved great-grandchildren: Jordan Iyer, Noelle Iyer, and Stefano Schmitt. Domenica is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends whom she cherished dearly. Calling hours will be held Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1255 Pleasant St., Schenectady, NY, 12303. Burial will follow at St. Cyril & Method Cemetery
