    Karyn T. Knapik

    October 15, 1949 - April 4, 2022

Karyn T. Knapik, 72, of Niskayuna, NY, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2022, with her daughter at her side. Karyn was born and raised in the Schenectady area and always lived locally. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Helen Deere. In 1969, Karyn married John Divinetz; in 1986, Karyn married Peter Knapik, who predeceased her in 2012. Karyn is survived by her daughter DesireƩ (Chris) Smith of Charlotte, NC; her grandson Ethan J. Smith of Charlotte, NC; her sister Mary Ann Hannon of Ballston Spa, NY; nieces and nephews and her late husband's family. Karyn was also predeceased by her brother Ron (Pat) Deere and her Aunt Elizabeth (Betty) Mead. Karyn retired from the NY Credit Union Association. She enjoyed her position, coordinating fundraising events for credit union political action and advocacy and working with local Senate and Assembly leaders in support of Credit Unions. Karyn loved the water, whether it was the ocean, the lake or a pool. She enjoyed traveling, riding a motorcycle and hanging out with friends and family. She was a great friend to many. Karyn was also an avid Facebook user and posted just about anything that came to her mind...anything at all! As Karyn would say now, this is her final "Peace Out". Friends are encouraged to share fond memories at Karyn's Celebration of Life on Tuesday, April 12th, 2022 from 9-11am at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. A prayer service will follow at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
