    Margaret M. Centanni

    October 21, 1923 - June 2, 2022

Margaret M. Centanni, 98, of Watervliet, died peacefully on Thursday, June 2, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy on October 21, 1923, she was one of seven children to the late James and Martha Maloney. Margaret was a lifelong resident of Watervliet. After graduating from Watervliet High School, she worked for the NY State Department of Motor Vehicles until her marriage in 1957. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, now Sacred Heart of Mary. As an active member of the church community, she was a Eucharistic minister who also brought communion to housebound parishioners and volunteered at the soup kitchen. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and attended scripture study on a regular basis. In addition to her church activities, Margaret was an avid reader and lover of American history. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles (Charlie) Centanni. She was the sister of Betty, Jane, James (Bud), Mary, Jack and Patty. She is survived by her loving children, Carla Ensel (Peter), Gina Centanni (Walter), Sheila Borgeest (David) and Charles Jr. (Shell); six grandchildren, Bryan, Chelsea, Hannah, Carlos, Laura and Devin, a great grandchild, Caynan, and numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was happiest spending time with her family, whether sitting around the kitchen table or out for a nice meal at a restaurant. She had a heart of gold and was kind and generous to all. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed. A visitation will be held Monday, June 6th, from 4 until 6 PM at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, Watervliet. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet, with interment following the service in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
