    Mary Ann Cottrell

    October 5, 1946 - March 18, 2022

Mary Ann Cottrell, 75, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully at Schuyler Ridge Home on Friday, March 18, 2022. Born in Troy she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Marano Carpenter. She lived in the area most of her life with the exception of a few years when her father was stationed at Fort Dix. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. Mary Ann worked for New York State for 30 years in the N.Y.S. Senate, the State Education Department and the Governor's Correspondence Office. She loved old movies and television programs, especially murder mysteries like Agatha Christie's "Death on the Nile" or "Murder on the Orient Express". For many years, she helped type the scripts for the actors and actresses of her favorite Soap Opera. Many Ann always made sure she knew the latest fashions and had a beautiful sense of style. She also had a strong love of animals, and provided a wonderful home for several cats and dogs over the years. Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband, Jeff, with whom she shared a union of 54 years. She is also survived by her son, Edward (Jean); her sister Cheryl (Kenton); her niece, Jessica; and her grandchildren, Drew and Sophie. She is predeceased by her son, Kenneth. The family would like to thank the staff of Schuyler Ridge for their caring support. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford and at 10 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park. Interment will be in St Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
