Otto J. Schwaiger, 87 of Loudonville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. Otto was born on March 1, 1935, in Troy, the son of Otto and Elizabeth (Schoons) Schwaiger. He served proudly in the Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War. He enjoyed a long career as a fabric design engineer at Albany International before retirng in 1998. Survivors include his wife, Carol Musso Bayly Schwaiger; and his children, Jen (Chi) Leung, Annie Bayly Reed (Wayne), Matt (Annie) Bayly, Meg (Mike) Condo, Noreen (Mike) Bennett, and Timmy Bayly (Derick). He was the proud Poppy of Abby, Lilly, Bridget, Meghan, Katie (Tom), Ryan, Emily (Garret), Erin, Brianna, Moira, Jack, Shane, Sara, Brent, Brady, and Cody; and great-grandfather of Thomas, Cameron, and Ella. Otto will also be missed by Thor, his beloved canine companion. Otto was predeceased by his wife, Kerolene (Hughes) Schwaiger; and sister, Betty Fernandez. Otto is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to his calling hours on Sunday from 3 - 7 p.m. at the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home Inc., 165 Columbia Tpke., Rensselaer. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his funeral Mass on Monday at 12 p.m. in St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd, Loudonville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Otto's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 2 Pine West Plaza, #202, Albany, NY, 12205, a charity Otto was passionate about.
