    Raymond G. LeFevre

    June 14, 1934 - February 12, 2022

    Raymond G. LeFevre, Jr., 87, died peacefully Saturday evening, February 12, 2022 at home with his family at his side. He was born in Albany on June 14, 1934, the son of the late Raymond G. and Agnes Meehan LeFevre, Sr. Ray graduated summa cum laude from the former St. Joseph’s High School in Albany. He attended Siena College and Hudson Valley Community College and graduated from the I.B.E.W. Leadership Training Program. He was employed in a job he loved by Niagara Mohawk in Albany as an electric planner D for over 44 years before retiring in June, 1996. He was the President of Local 1385 of the I.B.E.W for 17 years and was Chairman of System Council U-11 IBEW, chairman of the Eastern Division Joint Board, editor and founder of the Eastern Division News, Asst. editor of “Power” System Council Newspaper and System Chairman of C.O.P.E. He was a member of the Niagara Mohawk 25 Year Club and the Retiree Pension Club. Ray and his wife Dawn were world travelers visiting 36 countries. They enjoyed family vacations in Newport, RI and Sedona, AZ and took many cruises. Newport held a very special place in his heart, going to see the America’s Cup Races, to the old Christie’s restaurant for dinner and drinks or just going for a ride around the Ocean Drive, he loved it all. Ray enjoyed woodworking, was an avid reader, did the Jumble puzzle in the Times Union every day and loved all types of music from Meatloaf to Sinatra. Above all, he loved spending time with his whole family especially the Sunday dinners at the house. In his earlier years, Ray loved baseball and played in the Albany Twilight League at Bleeker Stadium. He was also an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. The family would like to thank the caregivers from Community Hospice especially Penny, Beth and Steve. He was married 65 years to the love of his life, Dawn Ragone LeFevre; devoted father of Karen (late Stan) Mankowski of Clifton Park, Kathy (Chris) Bell of Latham, Kim (David) McHale of Wynantskill, Raymond D. (Theresa) LeFevre of Cooperstown and Ken (Mary Lou) LeFevre of Wynantskill; proud grandfather of Danny (Michelle) McHale, Meagan (Chris) Hennessey, Morgan (Ansu) Diggs, Matthew (Marissa) Bell, Ashley (Rich) McCann, Jenna, Ryan & Catie LeFevre; great grandfather of Luke & Evelyn McHale, Willow Hennessey and Isabella McCann; brother of the late Jean (Alex) Fournier, Maryanne (Richard) Maloy, Rev. Robert LeFevre, Michael LeFevre, Agnes (Robert) Kiley and Ernest LeFevre; brother in law of Donald (Stephanie) Ragone, John (Kathy) Weidman and the late Richard (wife Judy survives) Ragone. He was son-in-law of the late Dominic Ragone (Pauline) and Marion Weidman (Raymond). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Friday, March 4th at 12 noon at Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Avenue, Troy with calling prior to the mass at Sacred Heart Church from 10:30 am – 12 noon. Entombment will follow in St. Agnes Mausoleum, Menands. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Community Hospice, Gift Processing Center, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
