    Rose L. Leo

    May 28, 1929 - June 14, 2022

Rose Lillian (Altieri) Leo, 93, of Harris Drive, died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on June 14, 2022. Born in Schenectady on May 28, 1929, she worked at Whelan’s Pharmacy as a fountain girl. It was her first job and that is where she met Arnold Leo, he knew right away, that she was the one he would marry. The first time he introduced Rose to his family, he introduced her as the girl he was going to marry. Married in 1949, they were happily married for 56 years until Arnold’s passing in 2005. Before Rose started a family, she worked for the General Electric in 1950. She worked for Napa Distribution Center until her retirement 1991. Rose traveled the world as she joined Arnold with his career, living in Italy from 1962-1965; and Greece from 1969-1973. Rose was known for her smile, humor, kindness and making sure everyone who walked into her house ate. Her mother-in-law, Mary Leo taught her how to make traditional Italian food that Rose perfected. She passed those recipes onto her daughters and granddaughters, although they never quite got it right. She thoroughly enjoyed knitting and crocheting. All of her family and their family have one of her beautiful blankets. In later years, Rose entertained herself at the casino with her siblings and watching the game show network. Predeceased by her loving husband, Arnold Francis Leo in 2005; siblings, June Plue, Evelyn Cappello, Alice Healey, Gloria Capogna and Michael Altieri and her daughter-in-law, Jodi Leo. Survived by Christina McKnight (Kim), Lawrence Leo, Jim Leo and Francesca Hill; grandchildren, Bri Martelli (Sal), Amanda Fowler (Andy), Elizabeth Zapoli (Jason), Alexandria Mastrianni (Vince), Katie Leo (Tim), Samantha Leo (Brian), Victoria Hill, Kirk Hill, Patrick Hill and Christina Hill; 13 beloved great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Pelicone, Joyce Paszkiewicz, Anthony Altieri (Ann); and brother-in-law, Jack Healey; and cherished by her 40 nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Monday at 10:30 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, followed by A Mass of Christian Burial will at 11:30 am at St. Anthony’s Church, Seward Place. Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, on Monday from 9:30 -10:30 am.
